Dr. Pinkston is a Fellow of the American Academy of
Pediatrics (FAAP). She has been Board Certified in Pediatrics
since 1987 and was recertified in 1995 and 2002. She
became an international board-certified lactation consultant
(IBCLC) in 2002.
Dr. Pinkston received her M.D. degree and then went
on to complete her Pediatric residence training at the
State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center
in Syracuse, New York. Dr. Pinkston also holds a B.S.
from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and
a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
Dr. Pinkston practiced for three years at Eastern Shore
Rural Health in Nassawadox, Virginia, in fulfillment
of her National Health Service Corps obligation. She
then joined Dr. George Sproul at Blue Ridge Pediatrics
in Staunton, where she worked from 1990 to 2002. From
1996 to 2005, she was a Clinical Service Teaching Partner
with the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center
as part of the Health Services Foundation.
Dr. Pinkston lives in downtown Staunton, is married,
and has three children. Dr. Pinkston’s special
interests include behavioral problems, diabetes, asthma,
breastfeeding, and nutrition.
